Before You Start
Before attempting to opt-in your desired audience, make sure you know the following information
I. Communication Code
- This is the five-digit (shortcode) or ten-digit (10DLC) number that your organization uses to text
II. Opt-In Keyword
- This is the word or phrase that your audience will text to opt-in for receiving updates from your ministry
III. Keyword Response
- This is the customizable message assigned to your opt-in keyword
IV. Opt-In Message
- This is the compliance message sent by default whenever an new group opt-in is created

I. Give an Overview of the Texting Service
- Explain to your audience the type of content that you will be communicating to them by text

II. Provide Instructions on How to Opt-in
- 1. “Pull out your cell phones…”
- 2. Enter your organization’s Communication Code into the Contact Field
- 3. Enter the opt-in keyword into the Message Field
- 4. You will receive a keyword response and compliance message verifying a successful opt-in
